Make More Money with an Ugly Website

When you build your website or blog don't worry too much about how it looks. Worry more about the service your website provides. Does it help people? Does it convey information about your business? Does it do what you want it to do?

Moreover, ugly websites do something pretty websites don't do, they suggest to the reader that you care more about function than form.

"Ugly sells.
That's right – ugly websites are surprisingly effective in making money." says Mark Doust.

You and I know that form and function are not mutually exclusive. A website can be both beautiful and helpful. A smooth web design does not mean the person behind the website is a slick and sleazy sales person.

But many people don't know that. To them, they see a simple, ugly website and they think it's a mom&pop organization. They automatically trust ugly sites, even if they haven't done anything to earn that trust.

So next time you worry and fret about how your website looks, just relax. Chances are your minor errors will be signals of your humanity and they'll help you build trust with your website visitors.
