Don't Make Engtech's Mistake: Get Your Own Domain Today

A popular blogger once wrote about the mistakes he's made along his path of professional blogging:

Domain names are very cheap. Having your own domain name means you can move hosts without losing any of your backlinks. If I were to move domains I’d see a huge fall in my traffic numbers and would lose all of the time I’ve already invested building connections. If all those links pointed to my domain then I could change hosts with little side effect. - engtech

Engtech blogs at http://engtech.wordpress.com/ instead of http://www.engtech.com/ and he wishes he bought a domain name when he first started his blog. But now that he has a devoted following he isn't free to move his blog away from WordPress. If he moved his blog to Blogger or TypePad (or his own hosting) he'd lose a lot of his readers. But if we moved our blog here at http://blog.otisworks.com/ we wouldn't lose any of our readers. Our blog doesn't depend on Blogger even though it's hosted with Blogger. If we chose to move our blog next month or next year, we can!
